Klassic Keisha Cole: "So Cursing is Keeping It Real?"
Someone please sign this child up for media training asap! This interview is hilarious. Keisha can sing, but she is straight 'Hood! Dede from The Doug Banks Morning Show called Keisha out on her STANK attitude listen...
In case you don't want to listen to the interview, here are some highlights:
--Cursing isn't keeping it real
--A house is NOT a condo
--Keisha is different from DMX
--Keisha is NOT Mary J. Blige
--Five years from now Keisha doesn't know where she wants to be, but she bought her a house (not a condo!)
--She wants to be a "veterinary doctor" also known as a veterinarian

That interview is FUNNY!!! I agree that people should "do them," I've just seen it done better. I personally know people from the Bay area and they don't act stank like your gurl KC. The gurl can SANG, but in order to have longevity in the entertainment biz, she is going to have to do better in the "people skillz" department.
She sucks! Didn't you see her perform at the BET awards?! Hot mess...Her 15 minutes will be up in 5 if she keeps acting like this...
"Sometimes, because you curse a lot..."
Only a p***y would come at someone like that right off the bat. Especially a "man" speaking to a woman over the phone.
Probably a DL "sista" er- brutha.
Keisha responded properly, in my opinion. Which was "kiss my ass, radio peons."
The interview had an unfriendly, patronizing vibe to it.
She SAID, "veterinarian" doctor, you non-listening idiot.
Keisha will be around longer than you Hollyhood phonies.
Reporters are like snithches. Especially Black ones. Why'd the sucka n***a have t put her "Jamaica" business out in the street? We ALL cuss at some point, don't we?
"you like the way you're being spoken to?" Is what the female hater (radio personality) SHOULD HAVE asked.
If jealous radio and TV personalities have anything to s
"say" about an artist, it's usually something that they hope ends the career of truly talented people who REALLY put in work.
Keisha showed that she can handle herself around those phony 'industry rule #4080' types.
I'm impressed with her and glad she's no doormat, like some video hoochie, after having overcome her mother's personal demons.
Folks need to stop holding people's parents' faults against the child.
Oops! Sorry about the typos, My mouse slipped and clicked the edge of Publish when I was reaching for "preview".
But y'all should get the point, regardless.
Soulguru-
Do you have blog rage? You call me an idiot and then aplogize for typos? Um, that's weird...You need to calm down and work that blog rage out or keep it moving to the next blog. And since your listening skillz are so superb, what the hell is a "veterinarian" doctor. Exactly. You're either one or the other. So your gurl KC is the idiot for letting that ignorant mess come out of her mouth. But I still have love for KC-she's just in need of some serious media training.
Alot of these radio personalities have a mean streak in them...they want to make people look bad, especially when live and on the air. Keisha Cole is very cool and oh-so talented. My money is on her, bump the b.s.
It doesn't take "rage" to respond to how the tone of the interview was going. Right off the bat it was condescending.
Not only that, the written setup was skewed, IMO, to influence the listener of the audio to favor the opinions of the radio personalities. Thus, what do I have to gain by siding with either party? I'm objective. If Keyshia would've made herself appear "stupid", I'd have called it like I heard it.
My "idiot" remark was the first thing that came to mind when listening to the patronizing "conversation" in real time. So, I wrote it to put myself in a position to call the radio guy out if he chose to respond. The guy is who I took issue with. I bet he wouldn't talk to 50, Master P or even Kanye like that.
Why should any artist have to kiss-up and laugh when delusion-of-granduer exhibiting interviewers lack class? Everybody's not as professional as Ed Gordon, Tom Joyner or even A.J. & Free. Ludacris started out in radio, and, I'm SURE that- in this age of guys like Ras Kass geting socked in the eye by The Game- Luda would have plenty enemies if he'd carried himself confrontationally on the radio before succeeding as a rapper.
It sad that people model themselves after the likes of Miss Jones or Wendy Williams and come off as instigators or even exhibit a hidden agenda to substantiate RUMORS that are spread by common haters or industry competitors (rival record companies, e.g.).
Right, I'm not a "regular" to this message board, and, I respect the fact that you did not partake in the name-calling (my idiot remark was a bait and you obviously didn't bite)...nor delete my post. But you cannot, and, didn't argue my point.
Weird? I chose to see my reference to my misspellings as diffusing an opportunity for whomever responded to not detract from the point that I was making (which was echoed by the following, anonymous poster) by concentrating on typos that are bound to occur when typing in such a small space ("You call me an idiot and then aplogize"- is one example of an innocent oversight).
Once I found out that you were a woman, I shall now temper my remarks accordingly because I don't disrespect women- whether they are right or wrong- on a message board. I'll apologize for THAT, ma'am.
I'm sure that Ms. Cole is sorry that she forgot to say, veterinarian "animal" doctor for all of the grammatical nitpickers. Sure it's redundant, but, so what.
I'm not that big a fan of her music, anyway, because I'm not into all of that "I need love" music. But, I respect that this sista is no "woe is me" quitter. She handled herself well on the chitlin' radio circuit.
I'm sure she knows-as a platinum-selling diva, by now- who the heavy hitters in the media industry are, and, what to expect from specific media markets.
Soulguru-
Congratualtions! You are the first-ever winner of the Longest Comment Award. But, you did call me an idiot when you wrote, and I quote: 'She SAID, "veterinarian" doctor, you non-listening idiot.' in reference to the last bullet in my post. Just keep it real, Keisha would. The name calling just isn't a good look, not here anyway. And please don't "temper" your comments because I'm a female-I can hold my own. Yes, that's me in the upper-right-hand corner of your computer screen sipping on some sizzurp. Clearly, this is my blog. And no, I don't believe in deleting comments. Moving on...
Maybe Dede is a wannabe Wendy Williams or Ms. Jones. But there are ways to answer awkward or off-the-wall questions from media types without coming off like KC did. Mary J used to have a stank attitude when she first came on the scene, but she matured and realized that you can't burn bridges in this industry. Keisha is young. She'll learn. And like I said in my original post-KC needs media training asap. PERIOD. That doesn't mean she's a bad person, she's just rough around the edges.
As for you Soulguru-I'm glad you stopped back by Hollyhoodbuzz, your comments are always welcome here, but that name calling is not. Holla

"You are the first-ever winner of the Longest Comment Award"
So, umm, do fries come with that?
They just might! Would you like to Super Size them? Who are you?! Why do you keep posting anonymously???? Keisha would frown upon that! LOL
MissPR, I DON"T choose "anonymous" when I "leave a comment"...
Of the three choices, I'm NOT a "Blogger", so, I choose "other" as my identity.
I'm a graphic designer WITHOUT a personal web page, so I don't add a link. You keep suggesting for me to "keep it real" when I've been nothing but(?).
Sounds like PR autosuggestion to me. Meaning: If you repeat something enough times, other people will believe it. LMAO
Check out the VH1 Soul message board (http://www.vh1.com/interact/boards/main.jhtml/vh1_soul/ThreadList). There, you'll find proof that my tag name IS soulguru.
holla
Gotcha! I thought you were a blogger. I'm not a huge VH1 Soul fan, but I'll check out the link.
I think that keisha cole is just keepin' it real like some of the other singers need to do. she is the hottest right now so either yall haters gone to get down wit her or lay down."ya dig" ciara howell
I must agree that Keisha Cole needs a little media/voice training. I also understand the pressure of the music industry, but I do not feel that for someone as new as she is to the music industry should have the nerve to be coming off with such a negative attitude. In life no matter what you have been through (SHE IS NOT THE ONLY SINGER THAT HAS HAD A ROUGH LIFE)you must learn at time to humble yourself.
I am not saying she must allow anyone to run over her but like Miss PR said there is a way to respond to patronizing questions.
I do feel that if Keisha Cole keeps this up she will not last long. I love the lyrics in her music but I think she can sound better if she would take some voice training lessons.
OMG!! I LOVE Keisha Cole. I LOVE her new Song "Let it go". I Think that a lot of females can relate to her songs.I know i do. :D. I hope that Keisha Cole keeps doin her thing & NOBODY taken her down. Because the people who do are just Jealous.
what keisha cole i remember and shoulda let you go is hot she is the hottest female artist out right now sorry ohhh noooo nah this album is great it is so original
Technically speaking both dj's should have laid down on the mat, when Keisha informed them that she produces and has the power to edit her own show. thas within itself was nuff said. They started the interview with an agenda and hated on their own race which is the worst crime to commit. Much success Keisha and right on!
I watched her "program" the other nite, and to me, it's nothing more than a 21st Century Minsteral Show. Ugh... the cursing, arguing in a parking lot, drugs, prostitution, wanna be gang members... and doing this all in front of a young child. Typical stereotype. Just goes to prove... you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. Money cannot buy class.
